Role Summary
We are seeking a vibrant and passionate Registered Children's Home Manager to lead the launch and day-to-day operations of our new 2-bed residential children's home in Coventry. This is a unique opportunity to build a service from the ground up, shaping its culture and ensuring the delivery of outstanding care. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing LD homes, extensive experience supporting children with mental health needs, and a strong commitment to safeguarding. There will also be a plan to dual manage with a second home in the future.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the setup and launch of the new 2-bed residential children's home, ensuring it meets all regulatory requirements.
2. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and care plans tailored to the specific needs of children with learning disabilities and mental health needs.
3. Establish and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, families, and other stakeholders.
4. Recruit, train, supervise, and motivate a high-performing care team.
5. Provide strong and effective leadership, fostering a positive and supportive working environment.
6. Manage staff rotas, ensuring adequate staffing levels and continuity of care.
7. Conduct regular team meetings and provide ongoing support and guidance.
8. Care Delivery:
9. Ensure the delivery of person-centred care that meets the individual needs of each child and young person.
10. Develop and implement individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans in collaboration with relevant professionals.
11. Provide specialist support to children with complex mental health needs.
12. Promote independence, social skills, and emotional well-being.
13. Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and standards, including Ofsted requirements.
14. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
15. Prepare for and participate in Ofsted inspections.
16. Ensure all safeguarding procedures are followed.
17. Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the home.
18. Implement and maintain robust safeguarding policies and procedures.
19. Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
20. Manage the home's budget effectively.
21. Be prepared to dual manage a second home within a reasonable time frame.
Person Specification
1. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent.
2. Experience managing children's residential homes, specifically with a focus on learning disabilities and mental health needs.
3. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and standards, including Ofsted requirements.
4. Proven experience in supporting children with complex mental health needs.
5. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
6. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
7. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
8. Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
9. Experience in setting up and launching a new residential service.
10. Relevant training in areas such as autism, behaviour management, and mental health.
