Technical Director – Central London - Up to £110k + Fantastic Benefits\n\nWe are currently working with an international building services design consultancy who are specialists within the Data Centre and Power Systems design industry.\n\nThe business has been rapidly growing and due to the major increase in their workload we are currently seeking an experienced Technical Director to be based in their London office.\n\nYou will take a leadership role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services, assisting the Directors with business strategy and management.\n\nYour excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both with colleagues and clients, and experience working on innovative projects with leading client organisations, and contractors, will equip you to take a future pro-active role in forging client relationships.\n\nYou will possess good commercial awareness, in addition to having robust technical knowledge relevant to building services design and being capable of incorporating those technologies into the data centre sector.\n\nThe position will ideally suit someone who is currently working in consultancy and is prepared to work ‘hands on’.\n\nThe ideal candidate will preferably be a Chartered Engineer, educated to degree level in Building Services Engineering or equivalent and ideally hold membership of relevant institutions (MCIBSE or MIMechE), as well as having experience of data centre or other mission critical projects.\n\nRole Responsibilities\n\nTakes Team Management and leadership role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services. Assists the Directors with business strategy and management.\n\t\nCarries out cost and profit diagnosis on projects including feasibility studies and preparation of project fee proposals\n\t\nWorking closely with clients and project team to establish project requirements\n\t\nReviews status advised by project personnel and external parties and modifies schedules or plans as required. Prepares project reports for Management, Client or others.\n\t\nDevelops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes\n\t\nFiscal and commercial management of projects to ensure they return the target margin\n\t\nLeadership and hands on delivery of monitoring of construction and installation on projects\n\t\nLiaising with existing clients to establish long term relationships and future upcoming projects\n\t\nLiaising with future client prospects and general business development.\n\t\nSpecifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements\n\t\nRepresents or client at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractor’s teams\n\t\nCarries out engineering calculations to ensure drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards\n\t\nHands on involvement in local office management in conjunction with other members of the senior management team\n\t\nSupport clients in tender and procurement of MEP contractors and MEP equipment.\n\t\nLeads on the coordination of engineering services, together with hands on delivery of concept and details designs\n\t\nEnsures risk and performance monitoring analysis takes place through effective systems of internal control and delegation\n\t\nMentoring and development of younger members of the engineering team\n\t\nProduction of technical white papers to promote the technical capabilities of our client\n\t\nHands on involvement in the sector management team in conjunction with other members of the team\n\t\nSurveys and due diligence reports of existing data centres\n\t\nPresenting technical papers at industry events where the opportunity arises\n\t\nTakes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions\n\t\nSupport the delivery of projects in accordance with the expectations of our clients Project Delivery Process from a Project Management, Financial Management, QA/QC and Technical Review perspective\n\nRole Requirements\n\nBSc/BEng in appropriate engineering discipline/BEng General Building Services or have sufficient equivalent experience\n\t\nMCIBSE/MIEE or HND/HNC + appropriate experience or equivalent\n\t\nChartered Engineer status\n\t\nExperience of data centre or other mission critical projects\n\t\nSignificant experience of specification design for a range of building types\n\t\nExperience of having managed projects abroad (desirable)\n\t\nSound knowledge & working application of key health and safety issues and legislation\n\t\nAppreciation & working knowledge of contract and business law\n\t\nKnowledge of MS office applications word, excel etc\n\t\nFlexible and self-motivational approach to work\n\t\nAbility to use it based calculation and spreadsheet software\n\t\nGood understanding of bs standards/ UK regulations/codes\n\t\nExperience and understanding of invoicing and credit control\n\t\nAbility to prioritise own workload\n\t\nAbility to work to deadlines\n\t\nPresentation skills\n\t\nLeadership & mentoring skills\n\t\nBackground in consulting or construction preferred.\n\t\nGood understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.\n\t\nAct in an ethical manner and follow the principles of the Ethics Charter and Ethics in Practice Guidelines of the Group\n\nFor more information regarding the above role, please contact Stephen Tiigah – (url removed) for more information
