Main duties of the job:
1. You will be fully registered with the GMC and ideally have a CCT in Emergency Medicine or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview.
2. Applications are welcomed from those unable to work full time for personal reasons or those wishing to job-share.
3. All newly appointed Consultants attend our five-day Consultant Development programme within a year of joining the Trust.
4. Leadership is a key requirement of doctors’ professional work and this innovative programme is designed to support Consultants to hone the leadership and management skills they need to succeed at CUH.

1. The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).
2. Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

You will be joining a friendly and supportive team of over 27 FTE Consultants working on an annualised rota to provide the full spectrum of Emergency Care within the Emergency Department at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (CUH). This is a busy, acute hospital, a specialist tertiary referral centre and one of the best performing regional Major Trauma Centres with one of the lowest mortality ratios in the UK.
You will be supported by a dynamic and highly motivated Nursing team, an inspiring cadre of training and career grade Doctors, Emergency Nurse Practitioners, Advanced Care Practitioners and the full range of in-patient acute specialties.
Sub-specialist interests in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine are well-established and additional personal interests in Academic Emergency Medicine, Critical Care, Ultrasound, Medicine for Elderly (DME), Minor Injuries, Health Service management and Medical Education can all be supported.
