Supplier Quality Engineer - Defence
Based in Coventry
£25-£30 per hour (Outside IR35)
08:00-16:35 (Mon – Thu) 08:00-15:10 (Fri) - Onsite Initial 6 Months with possible extensions
Our client is a global leader in armour technology and vehicle integration, providing lifesaving solutions for the defence and security sectors. They deliver protective and advanced vehicle systems with a mission to enhance through innovation.
The role of a Quality Engineer will involve the following:
* Strong knowledge of supplier development techniques and execution.
* Understanding and interpretation of Mechanical and Electrical engineering drawings.
* Lead and undertake supplier audits and report on Key Performance Indicators through objective assessments of supply chain performance and product quality.
* Review supplier manufacturing processes and collaborate with suppliers on process improvement and value enhancement opportunities.
* Assist in the supplier approval process by assessing manufacturing/technology capabilities and Health, Safety and Environmental risks.
* Carryout and coach the supplier base in Material Review Boards, Root Cause Corrective Action, Non-Conformance Management, design, and development phases of programmes and support the link between Goods-In and the relevant manufacturing facility.
* Work with inhouse Engineering, Design and Manufacturing departments to define process parameters ensuring that supplier process capability is effective to meet design intent.
* Support the Product Introduction Management process to ensure that the supplier chain can meet the required standards.
* Knowledge and experience of coaching and developing internal and external stakeholders in Quality Assurance Tools such as PFMEA, DFMEA, Control Plans, First Article Inspection Reports and Part Submission Warrants.
* Working knowledge of ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, ISO45001:2018 and Defence AQAP’s.
* Knowledge of measurement techniques including Metrology, Inspection Methods, and Equipment.
The Quality Engineer will need to have the following experience:
* Strong knowledge and experience of supplier development techniques is essential.
* Proven history within Defence or Automotive of supply chain management is essential.
* HND/HNC in manufacturing/engineering or relevant experience is desirable.
* Strong and robust team player who can identify issues, self-starter and can provide tangible benefit to the product, process, and service is desirable.
* Ability to understand the issue and push through action plans to closure, using effective communication skills is desirable.
