Job Description
The Apprentice Assistant Accountant role has a real responsibility, working to support the Financial Controller with day-to-day processing in the finance function. Your role contributes to the efficiency of the organisation through the processing and matching of transactions, identifying and troubleshooting differences with support from the Financial Controller and support to other areas of the finance function. Over time, this role provides the basis of a career into Management Accounts.
As an Apprentice Assistant Accountant, you will be:
1. Processing UK Parts Centre invoices onto our finance system.
2. Matching UK Parts Centre invoices against purchase orders through our system.
3. Goods Received Not Invoiced processing and maintenance.
4. Processing intercompany invoices through stock mark-up procedure.
5. Investigating differences and anomalies on the above tasks with the Financial Controller.
6. Supporting Intercompany reconciliations with the Assistant Accountant.
7. Providing holiday cover and support over busy periods to the Accounts Payable team.
8. Undertaking a Level 2 Finance Assistant Apprenticeship, completing set modules on time and attending college as necessary.
9. Using Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.
10. Learning Crown administrative procedures, and how to use in house and partner software.
11. This role is expected to evolve over time, taking on more responsibilities as skills are developed, including support for day-to-day fleet management.
Person Specification
Essential Skills:
* You must be willing to learn and can follow instructions.
* You must have excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
* Friendly and able to build relationships with colleagues and customers.
* A*-C / 4-9 grades or equivalent in Maths and English as a minimum.
* I.T. literate and familiar with Microsoft “Word”, “Excel” or equivalent software.
* Ability to work efficiently and accurately.
* Highly motivated.
* The ability to work as a team member and possess good interpersonal, communication and literacy skills.
* To be able to prioritise workload and work under own initiative.
Desirable Skills:
* No prerequisite experience required but a desire to be part of a successful team and possess a great work ethic.
Vacancy Details
Hours of Work: Monday to Thursday – 09.00am to 5.30pm with one hour for lunch; Friday – 09.00am to 5.00pm with one hour for lunch.
