We have a varied and complex built environment estate, which includes some of Bristol’s best-known iconic buildings.
Our Building Surveyors are key in the survey, planning, and delivery of projects across the estate; ensuring that it is well maintained and aligned to our strategic and operational needs.
We are looking for diligent and experienced property and construction professionals, with a passion for construction and maintenance.
What will you be doing?
We are seeking someone with an ability to gather and categorise data, including defect identification, analysis, and specification of remedial action, particularly relating to walls, railings, and building facades set within the historic environment.
The role requires complete ownership and management of the project lifecycle, from inception to completion.
* You will undertake site investigations, desktop studies, and where necessary engage with stakeholders and instruct consultants.
* You will work alongside colleagues in our External Estates and Property teams to establish ownership and extent of boundary walls.
* Support the co-ordination and collation of asset data, relating to asset condition and compliance, and develop and manage programmes of repair that support the maintenance strategy and wider University objectives.
* Oversee all aspects of building improvement projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, using your skills and experience to deliver high-quality and innovative solutions to building defects.
* Manage contractors and consultants onsite and ensure their compliance with university regulations.
You should apply if
* You have a degree, HND, or HNC in Building Surveying or Construction Project Management.
* You have extensive knowledge of relevant statutory and regulatory compliance, including approved codes of practice, industry guidelines, and best practices.
* You have demonstrable experience within a data-driven environment, including the use of Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM) software and experience of undertaking asset building condition surveys, creating detailed reports.
* You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders at different levels within a complex organisation.
* You enjoy working within a higher education environment.
