Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Logistics Administrator to join our dynamic team at Sortera, a leading waste construction company based in London. The Logistics Administrator will be responsible for managing and coordinating the flow of materials, equipment, and personnel in the company's logistics operations for its fleet of dust carts and wheelie bins, ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of services. The ideal candidate will have a keen attention to detail, strong communication skills, and experience in logistics or construction-related administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Logistics Coordination:
* Oversee and manage the scheduling of deliveries and pickups of waste materials and construction equipment. This is primarily for our fleet of dust cats (compactor vehicles).
* Coordinate with drivers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
* Monitor the stock levels of materials (such as wheelie bin containers) and arrange for the procurement of additional supplies when necessary.
* Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations related to logistics operations.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate records of delivery and collection logs, including material quantities and disposal documentation.
* Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly logistics reports for management review.
* Ensure all transportation paperwork, such as delivery notes, waste transfer notes, and permits, are correctly completed and filed.
Communication:
* Act as the point of contact for drivers, suppliers, and clients regarding logistics queries.
* Communicate effectively with site managers, project coordinators, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
* Resolve any delivery or logistical issues in a timely and professional manner.
Tracking and Compliance:
* Track vehicles, shipments, and deliveries using tracking software or systems.
* Ensure that all logistics activities comply with industry standards, legal requirements, and internal company policies.
Problem Solving and Issue Resolution:
* Address and resolve any issues related to delays, transportation, or waste management.
* Implement strategies to improve the efficiency of logistics processes and reduce operational costs.
Customer Service:
* Provide excellent customer service by addressing queries and ensuring that clients receive their materials and waste management services as required.
Qualifications:
* Proven experience as a Logistics Administrator or in a similar administrative role, preferably within the construction or waste management industry.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and logistics management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations and waste disposal standards.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes high-pressure environment.
* Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Desired Skills:
* Knowledge of the waste management industry and construction site operations.
* A good understanding of logistics planning and supply chain management for wheelie bins and dust carts a distinct advantage.
* Experience in coordinating multi-site operations.
* Full UK driving license (advantageous but not required).
* Working knowledge of Weighsoft.
