1. To provide high quality, evidence-based nursing care to Residents admitted to the Home.
2. To deliver high quality, evidence-based and Resident focused clinical care.

6. To maintain knowledge and competencies in tracheostomy and ventilator care and management, and to be able to clinically manage red flag and other concerns, and to know when to appropriately escalate care to external healthcare professionals.
7. To develop and maintain a professional link-nurse function, for example, infection control, tissue viability, PEG Management, Continence, as agreed with the Sister /Charge Nurse and based on the needs of the service.

Senior Staff Nurse

31. Liaising effectively with all members of the MDT to ensure Residents needs are met.
32. Exercising leadership and taking the initiative where appropriate.
33. Providing support and advice to staff (especially junior staff) on clinical and administrative issues.
34. Keeping the Sister/ Charge Nurse informed of significant changes and/or anticipated problems.
Upholding a duty of care and clinical governance through:
35. Observing a general duty of care for the health, safety and well-being of yourself, work colleagues, visitors and Residents within the Home.
36. Ensuring the rules, policies, procedures and standards of the Home together with all relevant statutory and professional obligations are adhered to at all times.
37. Maintaining Resident confidentiality, dignity and privacy at all times.
38. Adhering to the Homes policy on valuing equality and diversity and showing due regard for each Residents cultural and religious beliefs, gender, ethnicity, age and sexuality.
39. Strictly adhering to the Homes Infection Control Protocols, policies and procedures.
Maintaining own and others knowledge of clinical excellence through:
40. Taking responsibility for your own personal development and keeping up to date with nursing knowledge.
41. Being aware of current research and the implications for the speciality.
42. Acting as a role model at all times and for all staff.
43. Acting as practice supervisor and/or preceptor/mentor for junior and newly-qualified staff.
44. Working with appropriate members of the teaching staff to ensure effective staff development (own and others).
45. Participating in the Homes initiatives to develop nursing practice and support change.
General
46. To maintain strict confidentiality of staff and Residents records, in line with The Homes Information Governance Policy: any unauthorised breach of confidentiality will result in disciplinary action.
47. To ensure that acceptable standards of data protection are maintained, in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
48. To observe the rules, policies and procedures in place at the Home.
49. To carry out duties as an employee and service-provider with due regard to the Homes Equal Opportunities Policy.
50. To participate in team meetings as required.
51. Under the Health & Safety at Work Act, the post holder has a general duty of care for the health, safety and well-being of oneself, work colleagues, visitors and Residents within the Home in addition to any specific risk management or clinical governance accountabilities associated with this post.
52. To undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade, which may be required from time to time.

Qualifications
Essential
62. Registered Nurse (RN1) with active NMC registration
63. Understanding of NMC Code of Professional Conduct
64. Proficiency in dispensing and administrating oral medication
65. The ability of managing and prioritising conflicting workloads
66. Interest to develop knowledge of the clinical speciality and own practice
67. The ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations and work effectively under pressure
68. Able to manage patients emotional needs and demonstrate empathy and caring
69. Ability to solve and escalate problems and issues aswell as communicating effectively both written and verbal
70. To be able to work collaboratively with other staff members
