Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Test Engineer will be to assist in developing and executing test plans and strategies to assess and validate product/solution functionality per customer requirements. Additionally, this position is in support of Operations/Manufacturing activities in the test and evaluation of volume production and initial product introduction and release to manufacturing.
Major Functions/Responsibilities:
Experience with either test or design of RF product
Experience with National Instruments and/or LabVIEW
Ability to learn in-house software (Labview, Visual Studio, SQL, C++, C#, etc.)
Test and Troubleshoot production fixtures and test platforms
Manage automated test system located at contract manufacturer
Compile data reports/Analytics from production test data
Perform required tests and compile data in usable format to support manufacturing process
Debug test systems, implementing required solutions
Calibrate and maintain RF test instruments
Develop and implement automated test procedures to streamline standard RF test functions
Must be able and willing to fabricate components, assemble systems, prepare experimental samples and fixtures, etc. and operate basic hand tools, shop tools and lab equipment
Contribute to development of production test plans and procedures for testing communications and signal processing systems.
Execute production test plans and procedures and thoroughly document test results
Effectively document and communicate problems and issues identified during tests and collaborate with
interdisciplinary engineering team (including digital, RF, mechanical, and software engineers) to further investigate, characterize, and resolve problems/issues.
Work in a lab environment and use test automation tools and lab test equipment to include signal generators, spectrum analyser, and network analyseTroubleshoot test setups and procedures to differentiate between problems with the test environment and problems with the unit under test
Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 23kg (50 lbs).
Occasional bending, crouching, kneeling, and/or sitting in tight spaces will be necessary
Required Education, Computer Experience And Specific Job Related Skills:
Education:
Minimum of HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology or related field
Computer Requirements:
Strong computer skills are required including familiarity with Windows-based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (e.g., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
Comfortable using LabVIEW, Agilent VSA, Visio, Altium, and any other engineering software products
Experience Required:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
5+ years of hands-on experience working as a production test engineer
Ability to read schematics
Hands-on experience and fluency operating most electronics & RF test equipment (oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, Network Analysers, spectrum analyser, signal generators, logic analyser etc.)
Experience of building & programming ATE for a Production environment
Ability to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet tight deadlines
Experience Preferred:
RF System & Circuit knowledge
Can work with minimum supervision and be able to explain and resolve system level issues or anomalies
Able to work on independently but keep team members and management well informed of progress and any issues
Knowledge of communication devices and components, wireless RF devices, and RF theory
The ability to write test plan, procedure, and report documents, and to carry out testing alone and as part of a team
The ability to work independently, think logically and creatively, and contribute to the big picture
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively within a multi-disciplinary team structure
Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, good interpersonal skills
Experience with cellular RF products a plus
Experience of programming in C# and LabVIEW
Hands-on experience troubleshooting problems that occur with electronic RF, Analogue& Digital systems at the component level
