We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Worker to join a thriving and fun team in the Additionally Resourced Provision at a Secondary school. We're looking for someone who will play a key role in supporting students with a variety of SEND needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN), and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). You will work closely with both students and staff to ensure that each child is able to access the curriculum and school life to the fullest extent, providing tailored support to enable positive outcomes and emotional wellbeing.
The children who are based in the ARP generally struggle to learn in a mainstream classroom and may experience a number of difficulties including emotional dysregulation, Emotionally Based School Avoidance and school anxiety. The right candidate for this role will be nurturing and a positive role model for the young people
Key Skills & Experience:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly those with SEMH, Autism, SLCN, and ADHD.
- Knowledge of behavioural management strategies and experience in implementing these in a school environment.
- A compassionate, patient, and positive approach to working with children with complex needs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues.
- An understanding of the SEND code of practice, EHCPs, and the role of Behaviour Support Workers in supporting students with additional needs
- Team Teach training desirable
