Your Role OT Assistant to the Occupational Therapists in Secure Mental Health Forensic Services Service Line: Mental Health Forensic (Low and Medium Secure Services) Summary of the site: Cygnet Bury is a large site consisting of 3 hospitals with a combined total of 15 wards. We have a Regional Lead of Occupational Therapy for the site and 3 Head Occupational Therapists for each of the hospitals. Clinical responsibilities: We are looking for the ideal candidates for a full time OT Assistant role. We need people with some experience in the field of mental health, who can demonstrate an understanding of Occupational Therapy processes and interventions, and who can take a hands on approach. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and time management skills. This role offers an opportunity to assist the Occupational Therapists to deliver therapy and recovery focused assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for male service users detained under the Mental Health Act. The aim is to effectively progress service users though the secure care pathway, into the least restrictive environment possible, while working to reduce the possibility of readmission back into secure care. Each ward has access to their own Occupational Therapy resources including an OT kitchen and an Activity Room in addition there are other shared resources including a hospital gym and our Recovery College. You will be responsible for providing direct clinical interventions under the direction of an experienced qualified Occupational Therapist. In this role you will be supervised to assess, implement and develop an Occupational Therapy treatment programme to meet the patients needs, to support them with their recovery. This requires working in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. You will carry a clinical caseload over 2 wards. In house and external training is provided (as required) to support you to develop your professional skills within the Occupational therapy profession. Occupational Therapy Directorate Under the leadership of our Occupational Therapy Directors we support over 160 Occupational Therapists and many more Occupational Therapy Assistants. Working together as a large team we provide support to each other across the group, with the opportunity to be part of specialist interest groups & become involved in service development.
