Job Title: Engineering Shift Manager

Salary: £52,000 - £56,000 per annum
I am working with a leading client in the food industry who are on the market for an Engineering Shift Manager to oversee and manage all engineering tasks, resources, and maintenance activities to ensure smooth and efficient production operations. You will play a key role in maintaining plant machinery, improving team performance, and ensuring safety and compliance with legal and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prioritize, coordinate, and control engineering tasks, resources, and materials to ensure continuous production.
* Work closely with production management to ensure the safe operation of plant machinery and the effective implementation of the maintenance programme.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance and operational efficiency.
* Maximize production output through effective machine fault rectification, preventive maintenance, and improvement activities.
* Develop and implement training programs to enhance departmental and individual skills.
* Maintain high standards in documentation, safety compliance, and risk assessments.
* Escalate issues and conduct root cause analysis for lost time events with corrective actions.
* Manage the purchasing of parts/services to meet the engineering budget and ensure legal compliance.
* Facilitate daily engineering handovers, KPI reporting, and management of contractor activity.
* Assist with HR procedures, including investigations, disciplinaries, and grievances.
* Ensure site compliance with environmental legislation and keep the General Manager informed of issues affecting finances or reputation.
Key Requirements:
* Strong background in engineering, plant maintenance, and production management.
* Proven leadership in implementing continuous improvement strategies and managing engineering teams.
* Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
* Experience with budgeting, purchasing, and managing service contracts.
* Ability to lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
