Antony James Recruitment Ltd are delighted to be working with a dynamic retail disrupter in recruiting a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing daily financial operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting the overall financial health of the organisation. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and proficiency in Sage 50 accounting software.
Duties
Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments to suppliers and vendors.
Maintain, reconcile, and update financial records using Sage 50 accounting software.
Perform regular data entry tasks to ensure that all financial transactions are recorded accurately.
Process VAT-related information, including checking monthly HMRC postponed VAT statements against the system.
Handle Sales/Purchase Ledger: Process sales and purchase ledger invoices and credit notes on Sage in GBP, EUR, and USD.
Assist with payroll functions: Process timesheets, complete payroll for up to 20 employees, issue contracts, and manage leavers through an external HR system. Administer the company pension scheme.
Assist in the preparation of monthly profit and loss accounts and provide support to the Management Accounts process.
Collaborate with external accountants to support the preparation of Annual Accounts, ensuring all necessary adjustments are posted in the system.
Ensure adherence to financial regulations and internal policies while maintaining high standards of integrity and confidentiality.
Provide general administrative support and assist with other finance-related tasks as needed.Experience
Proven experience in bookkeeping or a similar finance-related role.
Familiarity with accounts payable processes and general bookkeeping best practices.
Proficient in using Sage 50 Accounts and Excel.
Strong data entry skills with exceptional attention to detail to maintain accuracy in financial records.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and under tight deadlines.
Strong analytical skills and a proactive, problem-solving approach.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced office environment
