Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nursing Associate with the Paediatric Continence Service covering Greater Manchester. The role involves working with Registered Nurses and other members of the multi-professional team, providing advice, support, and regular reviews in line with the service pathways.
The successful candidate will provide holistic, family-centred care and support for individuals across a variety of settings. They will work independently under the leadership of Registered Nurses, ensuring adherence to local and national guidance.
The candidate will conduct product reassessments via home visits, telephone or school visits; be responsible for running group toilet training sessions along with the Nursery Nurse; and perform bladder scans in our identified clinic (training will be provided). They will conduct an initial assessment to determine the correct pathway for the child and provide ongoing advice and support.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide compassionate, safe and effective care and support to children in a range of care settings, including home, hospital, and school.
2. Monitor the condition and health needs of patients within their care on a continual basis, ensuring appropriate escalation to a Registered Nurse when required.
3. Support children/young people and their families to improve and maintain their mental, physical, and behavioural health.
4. Care for a patient’s nursing needs whilst promoting comfort and well-being.
5. Safely undertake tasks for which you have gained competence to perform, ensuring that the patient is the main focus of the procedure or activity.
6. Work with the Registered Nurse and engage with other health and social agencies to ensure a safe, individualised approach to the care of the child/young person.
7. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records in line with Trust policy and national guidance.
8. Provide effective evidence-based care for service users under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Register with a Foundation Degree.
* GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English Language/New GCSE Grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language OR Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or Equivalent (not entry level 2).
Knowledge
* Understanding of the scope of the role and how it contributes to service development.
* Understands and acts in line with NMC Code or local & national guidance.
* Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to appropriate professionals.
* Importance of following procedures, plans, and policies.
* Awareness of children's continence issues.
Training and Experience
* Team working, MDT, and ability to work alone.
