Job Description
The Job Mission
You will play a crucial role as a Mechanical Engineer on the Sizewell C project, fully embedded into the client function. You will be reporting to the Engineering Lead, and your expertise will ensure that the piping and installation scope meets stringent safety and regulatory standards, while interfacing with various stakeholders to resolve complex design challenges. You'll be pivotal in ensuring smooth delivery and integrating systems within the plant.
This is a hybrid role, with three days based in the office (either on Sizewell C site in Suffolk or the Client’s London office) and two days working from home.
Responsibilities:
Respond to general queries, non-conformances, change & exemption requests.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulation requirements.
Challenge and align design decisions with project strategies.
Coordinate support from external organizations as needed.
Contribute to the resolution and closure of outstanding technical issues.
Assess and address technical risks within the mechanical scope.
Maintain strong relationships with Responsible Designers and stakeholders.
Report operationally to an Engineering Lead.
Qualifications
Essential Skills:
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in piping design and engineering.
Strong understanding of construction and installation industry standards (BS, EN, ASME).
Ability to independently manage and escalate relevant issues.
Desired Skills:
Experience in multidisciplinary technical environments.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
Understanding of welding techniques would be an advantage, but not essential.
Experience in a site-based engineering role.
Familiarity with EPR TEP/TEU systems or nuclear/safety-classified equipment.
