Mission for the Role
The Senior Quantity Surveyor at 2G Design and Build will be responsible for cost management across all project phases, ensuring profitability, financial efficiency, and contractual compliance. This role requires precision in budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and cost control to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget while upholding the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities & Expected Outcomes
Project Estimating & Cost Planning
* Deliver accurate cost estimations for residential and commercial renovation and construction projects.
* Ensure pre-construction cost planning aligns with project budgets, tracking any variances effectively.
Procurement & Supplier Negotiation
* Source, negotiate, and procure materials and trade contracts to secure the best financial and quality outcomes.
* Maintain strong supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure project efficiency and profitability.
Contract & Risk Management
* Ensure all contracts (including JCT and bespoke agreements) align with legal and company standards.
* Identify and mitigate financial risks related to procurement, project execution, and contract terms.
Cost Control & Reporting
* Track project expenditures rigorously, ensuring all costs align with initial budgets and forecasted cash flow.
* Provide monthly cost reports ensuring project profitability is maintained.
Valuation & Payment Applications
* Manage valuations and ensure timely applications for payments from clients.
* Oversee payments to subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring discrepancies and cash flow impact.
Post-Project Review & Profitability Analysis
* Conduct financial reviews post-completion, identifying improvement opportunities for future projects.
* Analyse lessons learned from completed projects to enhance cost-effectiveness in upcoming contracts.

* Estimation Accuracy: % Variance between estimated and actual project costs
* Procurement savings: % of cost savings achieved through supplier negotiations
* Budget Adherence: % of projects delivered within forecasted budgets
* Payment timeliness: % of invoices and applications processed on time
* Reporting Accuracy: Number of errors in cost reports and financial tracking.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Experience: Minimum 5+ years in Quantity Surveying, preferably within high-end residential and commercial projects.
* Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or equivalent. RICS accreditation is a plus.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in cost management software (COINS, Bluebeam, Trimble, or similar).
* Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction procurement, contracts, and UK building regulations.
