Job Title: Corporate Health and Safety Advisor
Location: Hours: 37.5 hours/week (Monday to Friday) Salary: £18.06 per hour Client: Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE)
About the Role:
MPA Recruitment is seeking a Corporate Health and Safety Advisor on behalf of the NIHE. The successful candidate will develop, implement, and review health and safety policies, conduct audits, deliver training, and provide expert advice to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and promote best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Policies & Procedures: Develop, review, and promote health and safety policies, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
2. Inspections & Audits: Conduct workplace inspections, issue reports, and follow up on corrective actions.
3. Training: Design and deliver health and safety training in line with legislation and internal standards.
4. Incident Management: Lead incident investigations, compile reports, and liaise with external bodies (e.g., HSENI) regarding RIDDOR-reportable incidents.
5. Support & Advice: Assist staff with risk assessments, provide expert guidance, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
6. Committees & Collaboration: Represent the Health & Safety department at meetings and liaise with trade unions and external stakeholders.
Essential Criteria:
1. Qualifications: Degree or equivalent (Level 6) in Occupational Health and Safety (or working towards completion within 12 months).
2. Experience: 3+ years in a Health & Safety Advisor/Officer role, including:
o Developing health & safety documentation.
o Incident reporting and investigation.
o Conducting inspections and creating action plans.
o Delivering health & safety training.
3. Membership: IOSH membership, with a commitment to progressing towards Chartered Membership (CMIOSH).
4. Skills: Strong planning, organisational, and communication skills.
5. Driving License: Valid license or access to transport.
Desirable:
1. Experience in a large, complex, multi-site organisation.
