The M&G plc Non-Financial Risk function is responsible for effectively advising and challenging key stakeholders, challenging risks effectively and proactively, and adding value through providing enhanced business insights to ensure that risk is managed in line with the expectations of clients, shareholders, and regulators, and to support the delivery of customers' long-term needs. Operational Risk maintains the overall Operational Risk Framework, leads, coordinates, and manages a range of risk management processes including overall risk reporting.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Risk Analyst to join our highly respected Non-Financial Risk team within the 2nd Line of Defence division. This role will have a blended approach between working from home and our office in Stirling or Edinburgh (2-3 days) and will support the Senior Risk Analyst and Risk Manager to provide support and oversight to the First Line business areas within Life.
Key Responsibilities for this role may include:
1. To support the oversight of the Life business area in applying the requirements of M&G's Operational Risk Framework.
2. To operate and drive a culture of risk and controls awareness within the local business area, providing active communications, guidance, and training to the business area when required.
3. Provide guidance to first line business areas regarding all elements of the Operational Risk Framework e.g., Risk & Control Self Assessment's (RCSA), Notifiable Events, Self-Identified Issues etc.
4. Support the monitoring and reporting of first line control environment metrics.
5. Participate in relationship building between first line and Operational Risk to ensure a positive, respectful, and constructive environment.
6. Review and work alongside colleagues to feedback results of RCSA, Notifiable Events, and Issues QA oversight. Ensure recommendations are incorporated into BAU.
7. Support the senior analyst(s) and manager(s) on all operational risk matters, including oversight of Business Area outsourcing partners.
8. Analyse, Interpret and Present raw data extracted from the Risk System to all levels of audience.
9. Maintain proactive communication with senior management including regular updates on engagement progress and identified or potential issues.
10. Work flexibly and build collaboratively constructive and supportive working relationships with teams across M&G plc and suppliers.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
1. Experience of working within second or first line risk teams within financial services.
2. Experience of Risk & Controls identification and articulation.
3. Experience of risk management, assurance, and/or supplier oversight in regulated financial services organisations.
4. Experience using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint to present information.
5. Pro-active approach to problem solving, understanding root causes, and driving continuous improvement.
6. Strong analytical mind and an eye for detail.
7. Strong written and verbal communication and influencing skills, including the ability to present to all levels of audience while avoiding jargon.
8. Working knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors.
9. Knowledge of key regulatory frameworks impacting the relevant business areas (desirable).
10. Working knowledge of M&G products, systems, and services (desirable).
