We are looking for a Deputy Sister/ Charge Nurse to join our enthusiastic and motivated Emergency Department based at Colchester Hospital.
Are you passionate about working within Emergency Medicine? Do you like a challenge that is both rewarding and exciting? If so, working within our new Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit (AECU) is the place for you!
AECU is designed to help stream patients out of the Emergency Department who needed same day care but not in this environment. The unit is conducive to caring for patients who present as stable with the intention of being discharged after assessment and treatment. There can be a small conversion rate of patients that need to be admitted so flexibility is key. Although the unit does not have an official target time to discharge patients by, we aim to see all our patients in a timely manner to provide the best possible standard of care. The successful candidates must have an excellent understanding of the fundamentals of care while displaying excellent customer service attributes.
As we continue with building the team to help give AECU its identity we will be looking for an individual with excellent problem-solving skills, leadership qualities, and evidence of team working to support growing a new team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To liaise with the Matron on duty and bed manager when patients are medically referred requiring an admission and maintain a safe and ordered running of the unit.
2. To move the patients through their journey in the AECU and AMSDEC and to assess and triage patients ensuring those who require care first, receive it.
3. To lead and ensure high standards of patient care at all times, in line with Trust policies and guidelines.
