Your contribution to our company
Undertaking routine monitoring, analysis and equipment maintenance duties on the Haweswater Aqueduct in line with the STRABAG Environment and Sustainability Management System (ESMS), the STRABAG Environment and Sustainability Strategy and the wider HARP project requirements. Supported by the wider HARP environment and sustainability team or more senior members of the project team.
* Work with the wider project team to ensure delivery of the project in accordance with contractual requirements, the Strabag ESMS and associated standards.
* Collection, compilation and analysis of environment, sustainability and energy monitoring data, on and off-site in accordance with written procedures. Assist with updating monitoring procedures as required.
* Installing, inspecting and maintaining monitoring equipment in accordance with the Environmental Monitoring Plan.
* Take responsibility for the maintenance and calibration of monitoring/lab equipment as advised by Environmental Advisors/Specialists and required.
* Coordinate the delivery of the Environmental Monitoring Plan, ensuring appropriate quality control.
* Deliver equipment in accordance with the Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan.
* Stock control of monitoring/lab consumables. Management and maintenance of spill control equipment and team safety equipment.
* Support the work of the Sustainability Advisor by collecting data from project teams. Support campaigns for improved environmental compliance and recycling.
* Take responsibility for own health and safety and that of the rest of the wider Strabag project team and any other site workers and visitors.
* Maintain own level of knowledge and competency in relation to Environmental Management and responsibilities including appropriate qualifications and professional membership and CPD.
* Work to develop technical leadership in specialist area(s) to support the work of the Environmental team as required.
* Support the environment and sustainability team in maintaining the Impacts and Aspects Register, sustainable procurement approach, carbon assessment updates etc.
* Assist in maintaining the management plans relevant to your role (including the Construction Environmental Management Plan) responding to changes in project scope. Communicate the requirements of the management plans at supervisor/superintendent/senior level. Report any persistent or significant non-compliances to the Environmental Manager.
* Develop best practices and lessons learnt bulletins to share with the wider team and wider projects.
* Support the delivery and compliance with all consents and permits required for the project.
* Respond to observations of non-compliances or potential non-compliances or matters which may result in non-compliance, escalating as necessary.
* Assist in the delivery of the agreed communications and training plan.
* Support the response to environmental incidents and the response to other incidents as required.
* Advise the design and construction teams to promote best practice and reduce the risk of environmental incidents, through assistance with the HAZID and RAMS review processes.
* Liaise with stakeholders where required.
