Description
Position Overview:
The Can Operation Laborer is responsible for unloading all pick-up trailers, making sure recycling operations are completed daily and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Key Accountabilities:
* Unload cans on all pick-up trailers
* Check daily bid sheets to confirm pick-up loads running daily
* Check condition of pick-up trailers returning to plant
* Ensure that all glass products are removed from pick-up vehicles by forklift operator
* Oversee and participate in all phases of recycling including unloading, bailer operation, and cleanup operations
* Oversee the storage and shipping of aluminum, plastic, and cardboard bails
* Nightly equipment and work area cleanup
* Weekly cleanup of pick-up equipment
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: To perform at a proficient level and be fully qualified, a person would be expected to have:
* Ability to demonstrate effective use of safety rules including proper lifting.
* Ability to lift cases averaging 40 lbs.
* Ability to operate two-wheeled hand truck, occasionally pushing/pulling weights exceeding 60 lbs.
* Forklift experience a plus, but not necessary.
Education/Experience/Training:
* High School diploma or equivalent preferred
* Must be at least 18 years old
* Basic computer experience or knowledge a plus
* Must be able to read and speak the English language
