Role Overview
As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the finance function of the school. Working closely with the finance team, you will contribute to the accurate and timely preparation and recording of financial transactions. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a commitment to maintaining financial integrity.
The postholder must be able to demonstrate, through either relevant qualification or studying towards (e.g. AAT or similar), or through relevant successful experience in a comparable role.
Key responsibilities:
1. Monthly Payroll – Support HR with monthly payroll, providing advice and reviewing documentation.
2. VAT – Assist in completing and reviewing quarterly VAT return.
3. Cash Book – Co-ordinate with finance team to populate cash book before posting.
4. Credit control – As directed by Head of Finance.
5. Sales ledger management – Fee invoice generation, preparing and issuing invoices to non-educational customers who rent our facilities.
6. Direct Debit collection – Allocations. Termly, 1/15th of each month, updating sales ledger.
7. Communicating information – For registration fees and deposits received to admissions team, biweekly.
8. Administration – Record keeping for larger trips, billing, and payment.
9. Management Accounts – Supporting with month end postings to facilitate completion of monthly management accounts.
10. Balance Sheet Reconciliation – Completion of Balance Sheet reconciliations for review.
