We are looking for a dynamic, innovative and enthusiastic individual to join our Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner (APNP) team here at Northumbria Healthcare.
This advert is open to those who are already qualified APNPs and those aspiring to be.
The APNPs are highly skilled, experienced, and educated members of the care team who can diagnose and treat healthcare needs of Children and Young People who present to ED and/or are admitted to SSPAU as inpatients. The APNPs work on a blended rota with Paediatric Registrars (ST4-ST8) and Paediatric SAS doctors.

Main Duties of the Job
Successful candidates with a MSc in Advanced Paediatric practice will be appointed a Clinical Supervisor, who along with the APNP team, will support them through a supernumerary programme. Following completion of this they will join the middle grade rota contributing to providing clinical cover in the Paediatric A&E/SSPAU.
Successful candidates without a qualification in Advanced Paediatric Clinical Practice will be supported to complete a 3 year, part time MSc programme in Advanced Paediatric Practice. They will be supported by the ACP lead, Clinical Supervisor and APNP Team to work independently and transition onto the medical rota as their course is ending. Following this they will spend a period consolidating their clinical skills, developing independent practice and working towards independent neonatal transports.
Trainee Candidates Year 1 - Band 7, Year 2 - Band 7 and Year 3 - Band 8a providing competencies have been achieved whilst working towards full accreditation.

Qualifications
* Professional registration with NMC / HCPC / GPC (NMC RN Child required for APNP post)
* Relevant degree, minimum 2:2 and willingness to work toward a Masters level qualification
* Evidence of relevant, recent study continuing education.
* Independent and supplementary nonmedical prescriber (willingness to work towards as part of APNP preparation)
* Management and leadership qualification
* IR(ME)R training
* ALS / APLS
* Prescribing qualification
* Safeguarding children and Young People Level 3
Experience and Knowledge
* Extensive demonstrable experience in specialty / clinical area
* Experience of implementing evidence based practice
* Experience of participation in clinical audit
