Job Description:
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will provide process and equipment expertise within an automotive engine manufacturing plant and be responsible for ensuring that production is always maintained by supporting any issues related to the production process and equipment (secondary ops not machining). This is within a busy environment manufacturing engine components for niche automotive customers, to extremely high quality standards. You will also define new production processes, and specifying equipment as well as specifying for procurement and overseeing machines and equipment that support this production. Addition responsibilities will include defining process routes and operations, production area layouts and the continual review of operations to seek improvements to both processes and equipment. In the event of problems with production or downtime, you will provide support to ensure they are resolved swiftly to resume operations.
The Role:
Responsible for defining and maintaining all manual operations with supporting equipment and machinery in the manufacturing process group.
Responsible for part assembly, part testing and part inspection.
Provide process instruction to the zonal area operators, supporting equipment operation to maintain production.
Investigate operational problems and resolve.
Act as the process lead on all operations within the area.
Provide specialist technical input to the production team.
Train and audit staff.
Develop process methods, plans, manpower requirements. Identify and source new equipment, develop existing equipment/tools.
Develop / research industry best practices and new technologies.
Identify ways to reduce production cost.
Prepare and review project proposals and technical reports.
Provide OEE and KPI data to management.
Liaise with customers and suppliers.
Organise and host meetings with team members to facilitate improvements and changes
Ensure that processes are continually assessed and are working at their optimum level to comply with Cosworth quality standards.
Consider the health and safety, environmental and energy impact of all activities.
Support the Company’s compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018, following policy and best practice.
Candidate Profile:
A good practical engineering background is essential
Engineering qualifications are an advantage but not essential with the appropriate knowledge or experience.
Proficient PC use, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
Literate with good communication skills, to be effective at all levels.
Manufacturing and part assembly knowledge with industry experience.
A reasonable level of manual dexterity with mechanical sympathy.
This position is for a standard working week, however a flexible and professional approach is required in this position, which at times can be additional to this with some out of hours and unsociable support due to a 24/7 operation within the facility
