We are now recruiting for a Lead Engineer (Digital Integration) to join us permanently on our major projects.
As Lead Engineer you will be responsible for the management, leadership, coordination, implementation, and performance of single-discipline engineering activities for an assigned project within our major project.
Responsibilities:
As Lead Engineer you will:
1. Understand and apply relevant safety legislation, including: Construction Design and Management (CDM); Principal Designer requirements; Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER); Health and Safety at Work Act.
2. Review and manage control of design on a project: production of Design Control Plans (DCP); design review management and input; design change control.
3. Produce appropriate engineering deliverables: Bases of design (BoD); analysis; calculations; drawings/diagrams; specifications.
4. Manage and coordinate technical risk management activities: risk management strategy and planning; risk identification and assessment; risk mitigation; risk register production and maintenance.
5. Coordinate the management of requirements: Understanding of systems engineering principles; requirements identification; configuration control; validation and verification.
6. Manage and coordinate the development of engineering delivery baselines: scope definition; input to project management deliverables (WBS, schedule, estimate etc); project execution plan / engineering execution plan.
7. Coordinate oversight of project delivery and project reporting: rules of credit; progress monitoring and reporting; recovery planning.
8. Engage with, and oversee delivery partners and supply chain organisations: specification of engineering and technical requirements; technical assessment of tenders; management of TQs and concessions; management of supply chain deliverables.
9. Understand and provide input to the project delivery lifecycle and nuclear industry standard gated delivery processes.
Responsibilities (Nuclear Specific Engineering):
1. Experience & knowledge of the UK nuclear site licence conditions and specifically those related to engineering.
2. Knowledge of configuration controlled nuclear baseline throughout the project facility lifecycle.
3. Experience of nuclear site licence company procedures.
4. Knowledge of generic nuclear new-build safety case: stages and key deliverables; design change control; engineering deliverables.
5. Solid and proven knowledge of UK nuclear facility operational safety case: design change control/configuration management; facility modification; periodic review of safety.
6. Knowledge of design substantiation process and interactions with the nuclear safety case.
7. Experience of quality control and the relationship between nuclear safety and the project lifecycle.
8. Knowledge of the UK nuclear and environmental regulators and their interactions with UK nuclear site licence companies.
Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
1. Ideally a Bachelor's degree in engineering or science subject or demonstrated equivalent combination of qualifications and experience.
2. Possess or working towards Professional membership of a relevant chartered body.
3. Proven experience working in a complex/major project engineering delivery environment, including part in a supervisory capacity managing a single-discipline engineering delivery team and management of engineering supply chain organisations.
4. Currently hold SC or be prepared to go through the SC process.
