Job Overview Abbey encompasses our Before and After School Care service and Activities, providing care and activities for children in our Junior School, for children aged 3-11 years. About Us: The Abbey School has over 1,000 students on roll with over 700 in the Senior School. The School has a workforce of approx. 325 Teaching and Support Staff. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver a range of activities to enhance the offering to include preparing and clearing away materials and assist with displays and general resource organisation Ensuring adequate supervision of all activities Work closely and develop positive relationships with children and their families attending Abbey Provide for the general welfare and pastoral well-being of children Liaise with members of staff throughout the school, working effectively as a member of the team Keep up to date with the relevant policies of the school and remaining sufficiently aware of the personal needs of individual pupils to act confidently and consistently alongside staff colleagues Candidate Requirements Support the ethos of the school Work as a supportive member of staff Consult colleagues for guidance when necessary Adopt professional standards of behaviour and appearance at all times Enjoys working with children and understands their physical, emotional and intellectual needs and has experience in this field Able to work with individual girls and with small groups with confidence Organised and efficient and able to work as part of a team and to a timetable Reliable, punctual and adaptable Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to adapt their communication style to meet the needs of both staff and parents Understanding of Safeguarding requirements within an educational setting Commitment to the School’s ethos and values Experience of working in a childcare setting Experience of working in a team NVQ in childcare - desirable Benefits Competitive salaries Employee Assistance Programme Non-contributory Pension Scheme Free Parking Concessions and discounts Interest Free Season Ticket Loan Cycle to Work Scheme The Abbey is seeking two zero hour BASC Assistants to join our Abbey team which provides care and activities for children in our Junior School, for children aged 3-11 years. We are looking for availability in the afternoons more so than the mornings but availability in the mornings is also desirable. This role is starting from January 2025.
