Job Description:
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Production Manager/Garment Technologist to join the vibrant and growing Vivienne Westwood Bridal and Couture department. This is a 12 month Fixed term contract role within the team.
The role will directly report to the Senior Bridal Collection Manager and will provide pivotal support to the Product Senior Manager, overseeing all aspects of garments production across multiple manufacturers, ensuring that the products reflect the required high standards and specifications whilst meeting the completion deadlines.
The role will also be a key link between the Atelier’s pattern cutting team and the external manufacturers, providing technical insights and coordination.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
1. Efficiently managing and coordinating production across multiple manufacturers.
2. Regularly visiting manufacturers during production phases.
3. Research new manufacturers and lease for new developments.
4. Garments quality control on a weekly basis across multiple manufacturers.
5. Responsible for the grading workflow of the patterns, from sending out patterns/styles to grader, following up when needed and organizing sampling for checking to enable production rollout.
6. Coordinate pattern corrections and replotting as well as physical master patterns return as and when needed internally and with external manufacturers.
7. Able to promptly address and solve any technical and quality issues arising during production.
8. Prepping ahead for offsite and freelance machinists when needed.
9. Manage all pre-production samples to go out to factories, as well as communicate and relay notes from fittings to factories/studio. Prepare and send all physical cut tickets. Record production samples movements.
10. Closely working with Head Pattern Cutter to ensure garments are fit for production and all relevant data is recorded ensuring complete details accuracy. Highlight areas of concern with construction in advance, whilst finding solutions to improve form and fit.
11. Create (physical) Production trim cards for each style/fabrication/colour.
12. Set up new suppliers in PLM/SAP.
13. Leasing with accounts for checking and follow up of all invoicing and payments related to production.
14. Coordinate patterns/cutting and sewing feeding pattern cutter and/or machinists, organizing necessary materials (fabric/trims/samples/cutting docs/etc) for both in house and external sampling/production with multiple manufacturers.
15. Lease with the Product Coordinator to rollout monthly and ad-hoc productions rollouts.
16. Have a thorough understanding of luxury garment construction techniques, technical finishes and an in-depth knowledge of tailoring, corsetry, embellishment, lace, woven, brocade, velvet, silk, satin and other luxury specifications.
17. Knowledge and ability to confidently fit garments and carry out quality inspections proactively make recommendations to achieve the desired form and fit and spot faults.
18. Check Pre-Production Sample – measure, fit and final approval before production commences.
19. Continually review and suggest ways to improve department costs and efficiency.
PROFILE & KEY SKILLS
1. At least 8 years' experience within the industry as a Garment Technologist/Production Manager within a mid-to-high end business. Experienced with corsetry, bridal and evening wear.
2. Demonstrates full understanding of the required production standards.
3. Basic Pattern Making Skills.
4. Works well in a demanding and fast-moving environment.
5. A team player and self-motivated.
6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
7. Excellent organisational skills.
8. The ability to analyse problems and offer solutions.
9. The ability to manage a constantly changing workload and be flexible.
10. Computer literate with good Microsoft Office skills (SAP knowledge is a bonus).
11. Good attention to detail with knowledge of trims and hardware.
12. Courageous and confident to lead and challenge decisions.
