About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Configuration Manager to join QinetiQ Target Systems (QTS) within our Engineering Team. The QTS business specialises in the design and manufacture of a range of state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial and Surface Target systems, including the world-leading Banshee target.
QTS targets are used to enable realistic weapons test and evaluation and operator training in over 40 countries worldwide, with QTS providing a complete managed service in over 15 of these countries.
What will I be doing?
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for delivering, maintaining and improving high quality technical configuration solutions by working closely with other Engineering disciplines.
Duties will include:
* Product Configuration management plan, process and procedure ownership
* Product Engineering Change Control, process and procedure ownership
* Management and leadership of Engineering Configuration team
* Configuration status records (CSRs) process and procedure
* Identifying current industry best Configuration Management practices to support and develop new procedures
* Identify and implement Configuration Management and Engineering Change Control tools in conjunction with Engineering and Manufacturing departments
* Review quotes and sales contracts
* Leading and driving continuous improvement in Configuration Management best practice across the framework
* Maintain and identify key product configuration performance indicators
* Supporting Configuration Audits
* Product Configuration Data integrity and cleansing
* Enhance standardisation of Aerial Target configurations to facilitate efficiency improvements in the business
What do I need?
You will be HNC/HND qualified in a relevant discipline with a good level of experience in a similar engineering design or manufacturing industry role.
You’ll have knowledge of ERP / MRP / PLM systems and leadership and management experience.

* Have strong knowledge of product data management in a manufacturing environment
* Have excellent communication skills
* Have the ability to manage multiple priorities and navigate conflicting deadlines
* Have good attention to detail
* Are interested and willing to handle a diverse portfolio of projects and assignments
* Have knowledge of change management standards
* Have strong time management skills
* Are self-driven and able to deliver
* Have structured and documented work methods
* Have extensive knowledge of configuration and change management in a product development environment
* Are good at collaborating across business functions to deliver results
* Have knowledge of configuration management standards
* Have six Sigma or similar business improvement qualification/training
* Have a high level of competency using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project and SharePoint
* Have experience using CAD
It would be beneficial if you have experience using:
* CAD systems
* PLM systems
* PDM systems
