The Product Development Engineer is responsible for managing key projects supporting product design and new product introduction to the market. The position lies at the heart of innovation and is critical to bringing new temperature-controlled solutions that shape our industry’s future. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manages design projects with guidance from the project manager throughout the product development process.
* Designs new products and/or modifies current products to meet customer needs.
* Assesses new product innovations and builds prototypes for Research and Development.
* Works closely with the Sales Department on customer-specific projects, including visits to customer sites to support sales inquiries or product support.
* Provides technical product support to customers and colleagues, recommending appropriate solutions where required.
* Writes technical documentation to required standards, including engineering memos, validation documentation, etc.
* Creates 3D CAD models of packaging components and system assemblies, resulting in 2D technical drawings to required standards.
* Designs, develops, and executes thermal and mechanical simulations.
* Designs, executes, and draws conclusions from experiments using statistical analysis.
* Prepares laboratory tests using approved processes, equipment, and materials.
* Responsible for the upkeep of technical documentation to ensure accuracy.
* Maintains documentation using the change control system.
* Ensures adherence to all procedures and processes set up within the Quality System.
* Contributes to the continuous improvement of the Quality Systems in use within the company.
* Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Handbook and follows guidelines regarding safety as outlined in the AWAIR and other safety procedures in accordance with the job.
* Performs additional duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
* Requires a Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of related engineering experience, an engineering-specific bachelor’s, or a Master’s degree.
* Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a creative approach for new ideas.
* Ability to support large-scale projects. Must be willing to be proactive, take initiative, and follow up to ensure project deadlines are met.
* Manage multiple assignments simultaneously and have strong organizational skills.
* Ability to prioritize and oversee multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
* Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD program.
* Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel.
* Must have good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Experience with thermal and structural simulation tools.
* Knowledge of heat transfer mechanisms.
* Ability to perform energy balance calculations.

* Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
* Must be flexible regarding working hours. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
* Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, as necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e., stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e., climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
* Ability to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
* This position requires repetitive hand/wrist activities.
