Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Prescribing Clerk for our surgery at London Road Surgery.
Applicants need to demonstrate a professional and friendly manner. Along with advanced computer skills and medical terminology knowledge is desirable. The role requires excellent literacy and numeracy skills and will involve providing patient education on medication ordering processes where appropriate. The prescribing clerk will have the ability to work in a busy and changing environment. The post is ideally suited to someone who has excellent organisation and prioritising skills, combined with high attention to detailand willingness to work individually and as part of a team. System One is desirable although training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The prescribing clerk will be the initial point of contact for any prescription queries at the practice along with communicating with other organisations. Also supporting the prescribing team with any requests.

We are based over 2 sites and have a patient list size of over 22,000.
Job description
Job responsibilities
1. Managing incoming prescription requests - from patients, pharmacies, care home and other organisations.
2. Process prescription requests within the practice time frame
3. Allocate medication reviews to the appropriate healthcare professionals when repeat medication has expired
4. Support with queries that come through via telephone or front reception
5. Collate information from medication related queries and forward to an appropriate healthcare professional in a timely manner
6. Liase with patients to resolve queries and support their use of medication
7. Manage prescription requests for our complex patient list
8. Promotion of our electronic prescription service and online ordering
9. Liase with pharmacies on the supply of prescribed drugs, alert clinicians/pharmacy team of any supply issues and forward information on the recommended alternative
10. Support the PPA returns

11. A background of working within a NHS setting. Previous experience of System one would be essential although training will be provided.
Desirable
12. Previous healthcare/GP surgery experience in Prescribing work would be desirable although training will be provided.
