An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Transformation Team for a Project Manager (temporary for 18 months from the start date) to assist transforming the Council into a forward-thinking modern organisation with an opportunity to make a significant difference for those who live or work in County Durham.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
This is a cross-functional role within the Corporate Affairs Directorate in the Authority, so strong communication and relationship building skills are essential. The environment is fast-paced, so you’ll need to be a passionate and energetic individual with a proactive approach who can multi-task and work well under pressure.
You will be leading and managing a variety of programmes and/or projects, both large and small, as well as managing tasks as briefed, and all whilst working in new and innovative areas of sustainable improvement across different teams. You will act as an interface for the service providing professional advice on all aspects of the projects, ensuring efficiency whilst building great relationships.
You will be responsible for:
* Providing project management expertise and advice to others throughout the council in relation to methodologies, best practice, or other specialist initiatives.
* Developing plans, activities, and processes to ensure best practice and to meet Council objectives, often in a continually changing environment.
* Driving improvements within internal and customer-facing services and processes.

WHAT WILL I NEED?
You will have:
* APM Project Management Qualification and/or Prince2 Practitioner with substantial recent proven experience of individually managing several complex projects through the full project lifecycle.
OR
* APM Introductory Certificate PFQ and/or Prince2 Foundation level with exceptional recent proven experience of individually managing several complex projects through the full project lifecycle.
You should have experience of developing business cases at various levels and of implementing business change and proactively pursuing continuous improvement.

HYBRID WORKING
Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part-time roles and arrangements are at managers' discretion; alternatively, you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
