Purchasing Specialist | Manufacturing Location: Stoke-on-Trent Contract: Permanent Salary: £35,000 A leading, globally recognised manufacturer is currently seeking an experienced Purchasing Specialist to manage a substantial and diverse spend portfolio. This is a key role within a fast-paced, innovation-led business that supplies critical products across a wide range of industries. Operating as part of a collaborative procurement team, the successful candidate will be responsible for an annual spend of approximately £70 million, covering raw materials, packaging, finished goods, and indirect procurement. The Role This position offers a varied mix of operational procurement, supplier engagement, data analysis, and strategic sourcing. From daily purchasing activities to involvement in broader business initiatives, the role plays a vital part in ensuring consistent and efficient supply to manufacturing operations, while contributing to cost optimisation and supplier performance. Key Responsibilities Manage purchase orders for raw materials and packaging to support production and customer requirements. Interpret and act on MRP data to respond effectively to shifts in demand. Communicate closely with production teams and suppliers to secure timely deliveries of critical inputs. Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information records. Monitor supplier performance and investigate non-conformance issues. Oversee base oil forecasting, pricing, quotas, and monthly usage reviews. Collaborate with Commercial and R&D teams on new product requirements and sourcing strategies. Support new supplier approvals and manage price list updates. Contribute to business-wide projects and procurement improvement initiatives. The Ideal Candidate CIPS qualified or working towards it, with relevant experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong analytical mindset and meticulous attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a distinct advantage. Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and meet critical deadlines. Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
