Job summary
The Medical Psychology service provides psychological assessment, support and treatment to medical patients within South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Within this, the long-term conditions (LTC) workstream currently provides psychology and psychological therapy to 9 services across South Tees trust, including: pain management, rheumatology, renal, CFS/ME, post-covid, Specialist Weight Management, HIV, burns and plastics, diabetes.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for a Senior Psychologist or Psychological Therapist to provide specialist clinical services, supervision and leadership within the long-term conditions workstream, alongside the Consultant Psychologist in LTC. The post holder will have responsibilities for providing leadership within specific area(s) of the workstream.
The post holder will take a lead on specific audit and service evaluation projects and will be involved in service development projects with the aim of expanding the workstream in line with national guidelines and standards. The post will also involve line management and clinical supervision of other staff.
Applicants will need to have had experience of working in one or more long-term conditions services.

5. To demonstrate expert knowledge of psychological principles relevant to the clinical specialism, through both direct clinical contribution and as a resource to the whole of the multidisciplinary team in terms of patient management.
6. Detailed knowledge of the skills and competencies of delivery of at least one evidenced based model of psychological therapy relevant to working with patients with physical health conditions ( CBT, ACT, CFT).
7. Psychologists - Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.
8. Psychological Therapists - Detailed knowledge of the skills and competencies of delivery of at least one evidence based model of psychological therapy ( CBT)
9. Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies and assessment methodologies.

10. Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatments of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings.
11. Experience of carrying out successful audit, research, and service development projects.
12. Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
13. Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
14. Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as an individual practitioner and also within the context of multidisciplinary care.
Qualifications

15. Psychologists - Minimum psychology degree 2:1
16. Psychologists - Post-graduate doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), Counselling or Health Psychology as accredited by the BPS &/or HCPC.
17. Psychologists - Post-doctoral training in the supervision of trainee Psychologists
18. Psychologists - HCPC Registration as a Clinical, Counselling or Health Psychologist
19. Psychologists - Post-doctoral training in a therapeutic approach ( Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) relevant to the psychological needs of medical patients (at least level 1 training)
20. Psychological Therapists - A recorded/registered qualification in a core health or social care profession at graduate level ( nursing, social work, occupational therapy) or have passed the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSA) pre-requisite criteria as recognised by the BABCP prior to undertaking the post-graduate training as a High Intensity Therapist
21. Psychological Therapists - Completed post-graduate training as a High Intensity Therapist sufficient to meet the required knowledge, skills and attitudes at a level required for BABCP accreditation.
22. Psychological Therapists -Current registration with the BABCP as a Psychological Therapist
