HR Manager
Fresh Produce Manufacturing
* Site based role, Mon to Fri (remote location so you MUST drive!)
* Shrewsbury, salary circa £40K + Benefits
Our client is looking for a proactive and commercially focused HR Manager. This role will see you provide an adaptable and high-quality HR service across site. You'll also deliver hands-on support to managers and employees, promoting best practices and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment legislation.
The Company
Based in the beautiful and rural countryside, this family-run business is a well-established grower and supplier of fresh produce for the major UK supermarkets. Currently going through a major transition of growth, they are seeking a brand new HR Manager to support the Directors with their vision.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as the first point of contact for HR support, advising operational managers on HR matters including absence management, conduct and capability issues, grievances, and recruitment.
2. Guide managers through employee relations cases, offering sound advice that aligns with internal policies, employment law, and best practices.
3. Lead the management of absence-related casework, including long-term sickness. This includes advising managers, facilitating case review meetings, and ensuring timely resolution.
4. Oversee recruitment for factory-based roles and coordinate recruitment for all non-factory positions, managing the process from start to finish.
5. Ensure all employees receive the necessary training for their roles and develop succession plans for key positions.
6. Manage the employee induction process, ensuring it is comprehensive and meets the needs of the business and technical standards.
7. Support managers in conducting the Performance Development Process to a high standard.
8. Stay current with employment legislation and HR best practices, sharing knowledge to enhance the team's service offering and business operations.
9. Participate in additional HR projects and activities as required by the business.
Skills & Experience Required:
1. Degree-level education and CIPD Level 5 qualification or above.
2. A minimum of 3 years' generalist HR experience in a manufacturing or retail environment.
3. Strong knowledge and practical application of employment law.
4. Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
