Senior / Principal Engineer (Bridges)
Location: St Helens & Manchester
Salary and Benefits: £48,000 - £68,000 negotiable dependant on experience plus competitive package
Summary
An established Engineering & Professional Services business with a passion for innovation and excellence in the rail industry have recently won a number of major CP7 design projects and are looking to continue the growth and development in their internal Civil & Structural Engineering division with the appointment of a Senior or a Principal Engineer with experience in bridge design, to meet the demands of our civil and structural workbank, with a focus on the bridge design and assessment portfolio.
Job Description:
You will play a critical role in delivering exciting and varied civil engineering projects alongside a team of likeminded and highly skilled Civil & Structural Engineers. You will champion excellence within the discipline, provide guidance and support to junior engineers and have unparalleled opportunities for career development in a fast growing consultancy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare outline and detailed design for a wide array of civil engineering projects with a focus on bridge design and assessment works.
2. Follow check and approve procedures throughout project delivery.
3. Undertake the duties of designer as highlighted in CDM/CSM legislation.
4. Engage with clients and support successful project delivery.
5. Support the development and growth of the bridge engineering team.
6. Contribute to company goals and business improvement.
7. Continue your own professional development.
8. Support junior staff development.
Required Experience:
1. CEng or IEng qualified with a professional body i.e. ICE, IStructE or on route.
2. Demonstratable experience in a Civil Engineering role, ideally acting as CRE, CRE under mentorship.
3. Experience of civil engineering design, in particular bridge design and assessment in the railway industry, including an understanding of Network Rail standards.
4. A Civil Engineering degree.
5. Knowledge of civil design and construction principles and standards.
6. Eurocode experience.
7. Experience in delivering to safety standards and CDM/CSM requirements.
8. Experience of commercial awareness including programming and delivery to budgets/timescales.
9. Proficient in the use of computer analysis programs e.g. TEDDS and Supersuite.
10. Knowledge of producing drawings by using 2D/3D Microstation.
