We are looking for a locum social worker/AMHP to support a knowledgeable and stable team to work full time on a rota basis.
The team…
The Emergency Duty Team (EDT) is a part of the Children’s Services Directorate, responding to out of hours needs for adults, young people, and children and their families or carers that can't wait until the next working day.
The team will become involved to ensure safety where:
1. there are serious child protection and welfare concerns (e.g., if you think a child is being ill-treated or neglected)
2. urgent assistance and advice is required by families or carers in crisis
3. older people are at risk for whatever reason
4. requests for a Mental Health Act assessment activity
5. people who are vulnerable because of a disability who need assistance
6. children arrested and detained by police where known adults cannot be contacted
Most cases can be dealt with over the phone, but some urgent situations may require a social worker to visit.
Members of the team lone work on the majority of shifts but are supported by their manager and the on-call senior manager. While on shift, members of the team provide support to EDT Foster Carers, Care Call, the out of hours enablement/urgent home care services. The team also liaises with other services such as the local intermediate care facility to arrange out of hours urgent admissions and works with the out of hours housing and homeless prevention services. The team takes a multi-agency approach to working with external partners like the police and health services.
About the role…
Our EDT provides an emergency duty response for children, families, and adults in need of urgent out of hours social care. The service operates 7 days a week, from:
1. 17:00 – 08:30 Monday to Thursday
