About the Role: As an SEN Learning Support, you will be responsible for delivering one-to-one and group interventions, promoting independence and fostering an inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported. SEN Learning Support Responsibilities: Provide targeted support to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties and other learning challenges. Assist teachers in adapting lesson plans and resources to meet the individual needs of students. Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment that encourages student confidence and independence. Implement behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policies, promoting positive engagement. Support students in developing social and communication skills through structured activities and interventions. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals to ensure students receive appropriate support. Monitor and record student progress, offering feedback to teaching staff and parents where necessary. Assist with personal care tasks when required, maintaining a respectful and dignified approach. SEN Learning Support Job Requirements: A recognised qualification in education, childcare, or special educational needs (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or equivalent). Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN in an educational setting. An understanding of different learning difficulties and the strategies used to support them. Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents. A patient, adaptable and proactive approach to working with children who have additional needs. Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and best practices within an educational setting. Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc. Have an updated CV ( covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps ) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
