Job Description:
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a great opportunity to join a friendly Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service who are looking for an enthusiastic and forward-thinking Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work in an integrated health and social care addiction setting.
The post involves providing input into two locality-based community services for individuals with alcohol and drug problems. It offers significant opportunities to develop the role. You will play a key role in the provision of a high quality, evidence-based clinical psychology service, working individually and in groups with clients who present with alcohol and drug problems and co-morbid mental health conditions. You will also provide advice, training, and consultation to other staff to support the delivery of psychosocial interventions and psychological therapies in the context of a matched stepped care model of delivery. You will have a key role in supporting staff to deliver psychologically and trauma-informed care and treatments.
The postholder will also be a member of our welcoming NHS Greater and Glasgow Alcohol and Drugs Recovery Service (ADRS) psychology team and, therefore, be part of a well-established psychological therapies service that coordinates the addictions teaching component of the Glasgow University Doctorate Course in Clinical Psychology. As such, you will be expected to contribute to the development of the wider NHS GG&C ADRS psychology service and participate in research and audit, in line with service priorities. You will be encouraged to develop a specialist clinical interest, and continued professional development is strongly supported.
You must be registered with the HCPC. This post requires PVG scheme membership.
