Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The primary purpose of this role is to review and analyse direct costs of production, including material costs and direct labour. The successful candidate will work closely with non-finance colleagues to provide appropriate variance analysis and continuously improve finance and operating processes to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyse standard gross margin by product to provide insights and identify products requiring attention.
* Maintain standard costs for materials and direct costs, including labour and overhead absorption.
* Conduct variance analysis against standard costs, such as purchase price variance.
* Assist with inventory reviews to ensure levels remain within business targets.
* Prepare monthly inventory reconciliations, including raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
* Prepare labor actual costs using timesheet and payroll data.
* Analyze and report labor efficiency to management to drive improvements.
* Assist with the preparation of business forecasts and budgets, and report variances against them.
* Prepare ad-hoc reports issued by the Finance department.
* Provide ad-hoc support for all members of the finance team.
* Assist in the financial support of the rest of the business.

Qualifications
Experience Requirements:
* Part-qualification of appropriate Accountancy board (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
* Advanced IT skills, particularly Excel and SharePoint.
* An ability to work to a precise level of detail in a high-pressure environment.
* Working as part of a team.
* Time management skills with a clear ability to multi-task and prioritise.
* Capable of setting and maintaining excellent housekeeping standards.
* Experience of working in a manufacturing finance team is essential
* Experience of Sage 200 desirable.
