We are currently looking for a reliable, passionate and forward-thinking Health Care Assistant to join our small and friendly team who is keen to learn new skills.
Experience of work on Systmone is a priority for this post and previous experience of working within a GP is essential; although full training and support will be provided. The successful applicant will need to evidence excellent communication skills and have an enthusiastic approach to the delivery of patient care.
Main duties of the job
1. ECG recording
2. Spirometry/Respiratory knowledge or willing to train
3. Chaperoning duties
4. Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses
5. Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
6. Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
7. Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
8. Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
9. Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
10. Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
11. Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
12. Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
About us
Valley View Surgery is a well-established surgery housed in a modern building located in BD2 with two female GP Partners and an excellent team providing primary care services to the BD2, BD3 and BD4 areas of Bradford. We currently serve a Practice population of 6500 patients.
Job responsibilities
Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
* Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
* Qualified in Phlebotomy
* Qualified to NVQ level 3
Experience
* Experience of working within a nursing team
* Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients
* Experience of working in primary care
* Experience of working in a GP practice
