Our Client has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic Junior Engineer/Graduate Engineer to join their thriving DDI Department (Design, Development and Industrialization) based in their Coventry office. This is an opportunity to play a crucial part in the development of modern passenger car powertrain systems.
The Design & Development Engineer will be responsible for (or support the team on) the design, development, sign-off and release of powertrain components. The engineers will support the customer team to identify, analyse, and resolve complex problems and requirements in the field of structural and/or electrical components, battery components, ICE or fuel cell.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Component design (proficiency in at least 1 CAD package is expected)
2. Awareness of component engineering following automotive development process (from concept to production)
3. Awareness of design for manufacture (manufacturing processes selection, material selection and process control technologies), machining techniques and technologies and tolerance design
4. Ability to interpret CAE and CFD analysis data to determine impact on the component design
5. Development of FMEA and design verification test plans
6. Ability to analyse test data results and impact on design
7. Ability to prioritise own workload and meet deadlines
8. Ability to work as part of a team
9. Support component specifications for sign-off
10. Preparation of reports (verbal & written)
11. Liaison with, and report to, multiple functional groups within the organisation
12. Travel between other sites and suppliers within the UK and internationally may be required
13. Demonstrate & promote the Clients' competences and services within client teams
YOUR PROFILE:
1. Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics Engineering or similar (min 2:1)
2. Understanding of vehicle/powertrain system and component requirements (ICE, e-machines, hybrid systems, battery systems, etc)
3. Awareness of GD&T, FMEA, DVP&R, 8D Techniques
4. Strong communication, teamwork and leading abilities
5. Capable of working independently as well as part of large and small teams
6. Driving license
7. Willingness to travel
8. Open minded, flexible 'can do' attitude
9. Motivated, passionate & committed to excellence
10. Specific experience on battery, fuel cell or ICE design & development
11. Masters or PhD in specific subject area
12. Member of a relevant professional institute (e.g. IET, IMechE)
13. Knowledge/Experience in CAD tools such as Catia, NX or equivalent
