What the Job Involves Provide professional financial advice and support to the Local Authority, assisting service managers with timely and relevant financial data. Lead in budget preparation for the Environment department, ensuring it is accurate and timely. Contribute to bi-monthly budget monitoring and annual closure of accounts, ensuring adherence to legal and corporate timeframes. Direct and supervise section staff, ensuring efficient and effective workflow. Offer financial evaluation of new legislation and regulations, ensuring budget managers are updated accordingly. Support budget managers in calculating financial performance indicators. Attend meetings to provide financial advice on behalf of the Group Accountant. Review and provide budget training to officers, ensuring clarity in roles and responsibilities. Ensure accurate production and timely submission of grant claims and financial returns. Continuously develop professional skills relevant to the role and manage team objectives and development. Execute any additional duties as assigned by the Group Accountant.
