Responsibilities of our Premises Paint and Decorator (Multi-Skilled): Carry out various painting and decorating tasks including preparing surfaces, mixing paint, applying finishes, and completing final coatings according to detailed specifications. Evaluate and analyse the condition of walls, ceilings, doors, windows, and other surfaces to determine appropriate treatment required for painting and/or decorating. Fill holes and cracks with appropriate materials, sand surfaces, and clean before application of paint or wallpaper. Collaborate with staff, students, leadership, external stakeholder and other members of the maintenance team to schedule painting and decorating tasks, ensuring minimal disruption to college operations. Select and utilise appropriate tools and equipment for painting such as brushes, rollers, spray guns, ladders, etc., while adhering to safety guidelines at all times. Apply paint and finishes to the interiors and exteriors of buildings, including classrooms, corridors, offices, common areas, and other college premises. Coordinate and assist with the removal of old paints, wallpaper, and other debris as part of surface preparation. Develop and maintain an inventory of painting and decorating supplies, ensuring that stocks are replenished as needed. Inspect completed work to ensure it meets required quality standards and specifications, making any necessary touch-ups or corrections. Stay updated on industry trends, techniques, and best practices related to painting and decorating, and recommend improvements to existing processes if required. Adhere to safe working practices, including properly handling and disposing of hazardous materials and chemicals, while maintaining a clean and organized work environment in accordance with College policy and procedure and current legislation. Collaborate and communicate effectively with college staff, contractors, and colleagues to ensure the smooth progress of painting and decorating projects. The role will have an element of semi-skilled requirement such as using power tools to remove and refit notices and white boards, providing minor repairs, assisting the maintenance team with tasks if and when required. What we’re looking for in our Premises Paint and Decorator (Multi-Skilled): English/Maths at Level 2 or equivalent Good knowledge of materials, tools and techniques to complete wooden installations. Demonstrable experience in painting and decorating Able to read technical drawings and work to detailed specifications.
