The Wandsworth Community Respiratory team delivers a range of services within the divers London Borough of Wandsworth in a variety of settings. The team made up of respiratory nurses, physiotherapists and healthcare assistants
We are seeking a motivated, caring and dynamic Senior Support worker to work as a key member of our team supporting patients the Home Oxygen Service (HOSAR). The Respiratory team is continuing to develop with expanding the services that we provide in order to improve patient care with the use of oxygen. The post holder's role will be diverse and centred within the respiratory service, but will predominantly be supporting senior respiratory staff.
Main duties of the job
This role involves seeing complex respiratory patients in a range of settings including various community sites and patients homes in addition to community clinics.
The post holder will autonomously manage their own caseload of patients performing capillary blood gases, fire risk assessments as well as provide support and cover for the other clinicians within the team. Structured clinical supervision is provided by one of the local Respiratory Consultants and support is provided internally through team meetings, shared learning and reflective practise.
You will receive regular 1:1 meetings with the team lead to support you in your role.
You will therefore need to be a flexible and adaptable team member with excellent communication skills including written and verbal. Good time management, basic IT and willingness to learn new skills.

Qualifications
Essential
6. GCSEs Grade A-C in Maths and English or equivalent
7. Specialist specific modules or a willingness to undertake further training in these areas
Desirable
8. Certified smoking Cessation facilitator
9. ARTP Competency in place
10. National teaching inhaler technique
11. Working at Associate Practitioner/Nursing Associate level
Experience
Essential
12. Previous experience of working within a health / care setting in the field of area applied for
13. Relevant experience of working self-directed or as part of a team.
14. Evidence of continuing professional development
15. 2 years experience in managing/supporting long term conditions
16. Previous experience of working independently including managing own caseload (under supervision)
Desirable
17. Specialist experience in respiratory
18. Previous participation in specialist Service

19. Relevant clinical skills in the area of work
20. Able to recognise own limitations in the context of the support worker role
21. Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to an appropriate registered health or care professional
22. IT awareness and ability to use NHS systems
