Recruiter: Rachael (url removed) About this client/child: Oscar, aged 21, is a bright and engaging young man with a wide range of interests. He enjoys cycling, languages (with a particular passion for French), playing the piano, reading, socialising with friends, and leading an independent life away from his family. He attends a local college four times a week, where he passed his GCSE in Maths and is looking to study other GCSEs. Oscar has cerebral palsy and relies on full support for his daily needs. He is a wheelchair user and non-verbal but communicates very effectively using a communication aid. Around 2 years ago, Oscar had a PEG fitted, which is used as needed for nutritional top-ups, particularly when he is unwell. He is supported by a dedicated, full multi-disciplinary team. Overview of role: Your role will be to support Oscar with his afternoon and weekend routine, providing personal care and enabling him to pursue his interests and explore new activities. While you will work 1:1 with Oscar at his family home (where the family may be present), an additional Support Worker will accompany you on outings and holidays, as required. There is also the opportunity to work an extra Saturday, and additional hours are available during the college holidays (15 weeks per year). Full training in all aspects of Oscar’s care will be provided, and you will be supported by the Team Leader and Oscar’s parents. The hourly rate offered is £16.00 on weekdays and £18.00 gross per hour on weekends. Following a successful six-month period in the role, the rate will increase to £17.00 on weekdays and £19.00 on weekends. Who this job would suit: We are looking for a personable and enthusiastic candidate who can bring fresh skills and interests to Oscar’s team. If you play an instrument, speak a foreign language, are sporty, or have any other hobbies or talents to share, we would love to hear from you! It’s important that the Support Worker can present themselves with confidence — even if you don’t always feel it — as Oscar is very perceptive and can become anxious if he senses uncertainty. The family invests a great deal of time in training and development, so they are looking for candidates who are genuinely committed to the role and eager to make a long-term contribution. What’s great about this job: The family offers fantastic training and provides a very friendly, supportive working environment. Without a doubt, the biggest highlight of this role is the opportunity to work with Oscar — he is sure to keep a smile on your face and make this a truly rewarding experience. The family is also able to offer flexibility with shift patterns and will do their best to accommodate the Support Worker’s availability. As an added incentive, a loyalty bonus of £500.00 is offered after twelve months of service. Who is recruiting for this role?
