This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of helping shape the processes and priorities of this small, newly established team. The IOPC is further strengthening its governance framework and this new role will work alongside the Head of Governance in setting and embedding robust and transparent governance standards. You will support the ongoing development of high quality and effective governance processes, enabling senior leaders throughout the organisation to make well-informed decisions, keep accurate records and demonstrate their accountability. Amongst the key tasks you’ll have responsibility for will be: Supporting and advising IOPC board and committee members to ensure they have access to reports, research and information related to the business of the IOPC Developing policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with governance arrangements and legislative requirements. Monitoring and identifying new and emerging governance requirements and best practices to determine potential impact for the IOPC. Undertaking research, as directed, to inform effective and efficient governance. Preparing and distributing meeting agendas and papers in a timely manner, and supporting with the drafting of meeting minutes. Undertaking monthly budget management and monitoring, ensuring accurate forecasts are provided to the Head of Governance. Assisting the Head of Governance in developing and implementing operational plans and priorities for the governance team in accordance with the IOPC’s strategic objectives. Key to effective delivery within this role will be your commitment and enthusiasm to the set-up and on-going development of this function. You’ll need: An understanding of the impact of governance regulatory frameworks and statutory regulations and their effect on the way an organisation functions. Good understanding of research methodologies and presenting findings in a logical and clear manner. Experience of providing robust administrative support to, board and committee members, and senior leadership teams. Sound judgement and a logical approach to decision-making with the ability to determine and implement solutions. Excellent written, verbal and analytical skills, including presentations and report writing skills. The ability to present complex information in a clear and logical manner. Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of people from different backgrounds at all levels of seniority. The ability to be innovative, objective and to problem-solve logically The postholder must be able to work flexibly to meet the demands of the job role and be willing to travel to all IOPC locations, as and when required.
