Job Opportunity
We’re looking for an R&D Manufacturing Engineer to join our Snap Lab team in Oxfordshire! The successful candidate will join our talented multidisciplinary team to develop new tools and processes that will enable next generation nanophotonics and related systems for our world-leading augmented reality displays.
What you’ll do:
1. Work on in-house early stage development of novel ways of fabricating augmented reality waveguides.
2. Make important contributions to new and existing automation processes.
3. Collaborate with internal and external teams across a variety of disciplines and global locations. This will involve occasional travel within the UK and abroad.
4. Collaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to identify and source new components and systems.
5. Assist in transfer and dissemination of process knowledge within the company.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Demonstrable record of hands-on process development with good attention to detail.
2. Experience of building tools to develop processes to proof-of-concept level.
3. Experience of high volume production (for example, FMCG, consumer electronics, medical devices).
4. Experience of specifying and commissioning of third party automation equipment.
5. Experience of mechanical design, mechatronics and industrial automation (robotics, machine vision, inline measurement and monitoring).
6. Ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and team structures.
7. Ability to work independently or closely with colleagues as required.
8. Shows curiosity and a strong problem solving ability.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Experience of optics or semiconductor manufacturing.
2. Experience of a variety of industrial assembly or manufacturing processes.
3. Knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks or NX) and GD&T, programming (e.g. Python, Matlab) and quality management systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Masters (MEng, MSc or equivalent) in an engineering discipline or related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
2. Minimum of five years in an industrial research and development environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Higher research degree (PhD, EngD or equivalent) in an engineering discipline or related field.
We offer a competitive salary range of £90,000 - £113,000 (annual salary) which is commensurate with your qualifications and experience and the level of this role. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs. Our compensation philosophy is designed to attract and retain top talent in the industry.
