We have partnered with a world-class scientific institution looking to appoint a Senior Health & Safety Advisor to support their operations based in Teddington. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for providing competent advice across departments, conducting audits and investigations, and mentoring a team to drive continuous improvement.
This role sits within a highly specialised environment, covering research laboratories, corporate spaces, and controlled facilities. We are looking for a proactive and autonomous HSE professional who can navigate complex environments and influence at all levels.
The Senior Health & Safety Advisor Role:
* Support and guide on various site HSE matters.
* Mentor and oversee the professional development of the HSE team.
* Conduct incident investigations, audits, and risk assessments.
* Provide competent HSE advice to assigned areas and departments.
* Develop and maintain HSE documentation, training programs, and policies.
* Ensure compliance with DSEAR regulations and oversee chemical safety.
* Play a key role in the Emergency Response Team (on-call duties).
* Support the implementation of health and safety audit plans.
The Senior Health & Safety Advisor Candidate Will Have:
* Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an R&D, laboratory, or technical environment.
* Strong chemical competency - a background in chemistry would be ideal.
* DSEAR knowledge is essential.
* Ability to work autonomously, make principled decisions, and handle ambiguity.
* Experience with ISO 45001 & 14001 management systems.
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
