Your new company Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with an organisation based in North / West Norfolk with multiple legal entities who are looking for a Management Accountant to commit to a 1-year contract. Your new role In this interim / maternity contract Management Accountant job, you will support the Group Financial Controller with monthly management accounts covering the usual items in a management pack to include variance analysis, month-end journals, ledger management, credit control and reconciliations of income, as well as assisting with year-end accounting. The interesting aspect of this job is the varied businesses you will be reporting on, from residential and commercial property units, varied property portfolios, land rental and the businesses linked to the county's farming community. This involves reviewing rental income against forecasted cashflow, reporting on property-maintenance budget variances and potential future investments. Therefore, we are looking for a confident, commercially aware Management Accountant. You will also report on their agricultural businesses across the region, which will generally involve maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions, including income from crop sales, livestock, and other farm products, with a focus on tracking expenses such as equipment purchases, maintenance, supplies, and labour costs. Your duties will also involve understanding the seasonal fluctuations in income and expenses that are typical in farming. These businesses need to plan for periods of high income (harvest season) and low income (off-season) and manage cash flow accordingly, so this is where your stakeholder engagement skills come into play in advising the senior framing management team on budgets, costings, variances to cashflow, but at all times you will be supported by the Group Financial Controller. What you'll need to succeed Ideally, you will have experience of the farming industry as farm accountants will have the specialised knowledge and skills to navigate the unique challenges of the agricultural industry. However, an experienced commercial accountant who manages budgets, is able to forecast accurate cash flow reports and understand operational costs, will have the transferable skills to undertake this 1-year contract. We are flexible on qualifications, whether you are qualified by experience or part-qualified accountant, provided you have the core technical skills in monthly reporting and are able to give commitment to a contact role. What you'll get in return The business offers a salary of circa £35,000 depending on experience, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, with some elements of flexible hybrid working, 24 day's holiday plus bank holidays, pension. This role is based in North Noroflk with the occasional travel to the Swaffham area. As explained, this is a 1-year maternity contract to start as soon as possible.
