Purpose of the role
Carry out maintenance and repair operations in accordance with the operational and maintenance plan/budget in order to improve operational reliability and availability of the plant and machinery at the lowest effective maintenance costs for all equipment, installations and buildings on site.
* To provide electrical repair and maintenance skills including fault analysis and identification to facilitate repairs, improvement and or inspections to standards set by the site management team.
LV/HV Installations
* IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
* Work within the IEE Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment
* Work within The Electricity at Work Regulations (1989), and the Quarry Regulations (1999), specifically inspection and test regime.
* Fault level analysis and capability to specify and set fuse sizes, feeder over current and transformer residual earth fault protection
* Work with HV and LV switchgear, cable and transformer system inspection and test regimes
* Working to Technical Standards set by the company.
* Drive Installations
* AC/DC motor installation, including understanding of machine operational parameters, i.e. duty types
* Work with slip ring and squirrel cage induction motors, i.e. liquid starters to rotor/stator, soft start.
* Working knowledge of variable speed drive technologies, inspection set up and repair
* Understanding of motor vibration for roller and sleeve bearing systems
Instrumentation Systems
* Working knowledge of process instrumentation and calibration of, e.g. load cells for weigh systems, level control devices, PID controllers, etc
Control and Safety Systems
* Understand The Provision Use Works Equipment Regulations (1992)
* Work with safety critical control systems and associated interlocks (electrical [Pilz] and mechanical [Castel/Fortress])
* Where applicable understand programming/fault rectification on PLC systems associated with works, e.g. Siemens S7 and associated top level SCADA
* Assist in implementation of capital projects from conception to hand over of a working system.
Understanding of SAP PM
* Comply with Company IMS procedures.
* To liaise with supervisors on technical and safety issues.
* Assist in the development of a spare parts strategy which best suits plant operation.
* The position involves occasional weekend and night working as necessary, particularly during planned and unplanned repairs; the position will require flexible working dependent upon this.
* Responsible for working within and adhering to the standards as directed by company procedures and the management team.
* Receptive to and carry out training as and when required.
* Where applicable work within the maintenance budget with regard to electrical items, power distribution and infrastructure. Control of all costs related to electrical items within the scope of individual control.
* Assist where required in investment and improvement projects to increase plant efficiency, reduce energy consumption, inline with the company sustainability policy.
Education/Qualification
* Time served Electrician with City & Guilds Electrical qualifications, and or relevant NVQ.
* Trained in HV/LV systems.
